Music at Keyworth

Music plays an important part of life at Keyworth. Each year group learn songs, listen to music and compose pieces of music using various instruments during topic lessons. Children attend weekly singing assemblies and have opportunities to perform to large groups.

Many year groups at Keyworth are taught how to play an instrument by a peripatetic music specialist. Our reception and nursery children are given singing and rhythm lessons. Year 4 children are taught how to play the ukulele. Pupils in year five are taught how to play the Samba drums and year 6 children participate in a rock and pop programme in the summer term.

After school, children have the opportunity to join our school choir. The school choir performs during assemblies and at our winter concert each year.

Our school Samba band, which is made up of year five pupils recently performed at the Royal Festival Hall as part of Southwark’s percussion festival.
