Learning through play is a term used in education to describe how a child can learn to make sense of the world around them. Through play children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments.

It is important to teach children how to manage their feelings as they can often become frustrated whilst developing their language skills- we have been using a variety of activities to teach the children about feelings and taking care of each other.
The children have been practicing turn taking during carpet time with musical instruments.
This term our topic is animals and sea creatures
We have been using a variety of activities to learn animal names and noises.
The children have particularly enjoyed washing the muddy animals in the water tray – “dirty, yucky” said the children.
The book we have been focusing on is Pip and Posy – the scary monster chosen by the children. They enjoyed following along with the actions in the story such as mixing, as well as naming the ingredients that pip and posy need for their cakes.
