Safeguarding Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Safeguarding arrangements during school closure:

Whilst the school is closed, our duty and responsibility to safeguarding our pupils remains. Our regular check ins with some families will continue throughout this period, just as if the school was open. Please do not feel offended if a member of school staff calls to check in with you, and to speak to your child.

If you have any safeguarding concerns during this time you can still contact the school and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, whether it is concerning your child or about any other pupil from the school.

You can also email the Head of School, Ray Capper at office@keyworth.southwark.sch.uk or our SENCO Kristin Hoogland at khoogland@keyworth.southwark.sch.uk

Parent contributions for food parcels

The Parents / Carers of Bessemer Primary School, our partner school, have set up a donation page where money can be raised in order that we can create and distribute food parcels for families in our school communities who may need additional support during this difficult time. I would like to thank them for their kindness and generosity, with the Keyworth community already benefiting from their donations. We want to continue to provide as much support to our families as we can so if you are able to donate, then please click on the following link: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=FriendsatBessemerFoodPackages&isTeam=true.

Emergency Support

Southwark Emergency Support Scheme (SESS) can help you if you’re a Southwark resident who’s facing a crisis, emergency or disaster and needs help.

COVID-19 (coronavirus)

We’re making temporary changes to the scheme so those affected by COVID-19 (coronavirus) can get urgent support.

If you’ve had a sudden loss or reduction to your income and can’t meet your household’s basic needs you can now apply for support – for example:

  • you’re on a zero hours contract, or have lost your job, and are now without work
  • you’ve applied for Universal Credit and haven’t received your first payment
  • your income has fallen but your benefits haven’t yet changed
