Welcome to Reception. We hope you and your child have settled in well. We would like to keep you up to date with a few routines and policies for Reception.
This term Reception are looking at ‘Ourselves and Others.’ We will be discussing how we are all the same or different and looking at different roles people play in our community. This is an exciting topic, and we welcome any ideas that you may have around this learning experience.
We will running parent workshops over the course of the year. Please check your child’s classroom door for any upcoming events.
Reading books and diaries will be sent out the week beginning the 25th of September. Please ensure your child brings to school their reading bag containing their book and diary every day. It is encouraged that you read with your child every night for at least 5 minutes and sign and comment when you have done this. It is an important part of your child’s development. This is an opportunity for them to share the excitement of their learning journey with you.
If your child requires a packed lunch, it is to be placed inside the blue box outside Reception. These lunches should be healthy, containing a sandwich, fruit and some dairy.
A few ideas can be found at the following website: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/school-packed-lunch-inspiration
Please make sure you have written your child’s name in each piece of uniform, including shoes and jackets. We encourage children to put their items in their trays, however, we are not responsible for any loss of items at school.
Children will not be required to change for PE until after the Christmas holidays. Please ensure that your child is therefore fully able to dress and undress themselves for PE without the aid of an adult.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child settle in and learn their new routine.
