Autumn Term 1
This term we are learning about Ancient Greece. In our English lessons, we are reading lots of different Greek myths and have the opportunity to retell the famous Greek myth, Theseus and the Minotaur. We look forward to sharing our work with you soon!
ANCIENT GREECE This half term, year 6 have been learning about Ancient Greece and have looked at how the ancient greeks lived, as well as their gods and goddesses, different historical events (Battle of Marathon) and the different geographical features of Greece.
The children made a 3D map of the physical features of the Greek coastline to understand better how these affected the outcome of the battle of Marathon:
During Spring Term 2, children in Year 6 have been reading the Wedding Ghost. Children have worked hard to create their own flash back narrative using a range of skills taught across the term. Some of these skills include using a range of sentence starters, experimenting with the order of clauses and using a wide range of punctuation such as colons and semi-colons.
During Spring Term 1, Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed reading the book Origami Yoda. Children worked hard to produce a balanced argument for the question: Is Origami Yoda real?
Here is an example of our work.
This term our topic is Japan. We began by looking at the different physical features of the country as well as how these could affect the lifestyle of the people in Japan. Using different resources (Atlases, Google Earth and data) we explored the main cities, mountains and neighboring countries.
With SATs around the corner, we would like to encourage students to revise and complete their homework daily.
